Taíno. Historic Indigenous peoples of the Caribbean, whose culture has been continued today by Taíno descendant communities and Taíno revivalist communities. DNA evidence shows that a large proportion of the current populations of the Greater Antilles have Taíno ancestry, with 61% of Puerto Ricans, 33% of Cubans, and up to 30% of Dominicans having mitochondrial DNA of Taíno origin.
