Shakespeare Birthplace Trust (SBT). An independent educational charity based in Stratford-upon-Avon, England, dedicated to preserving the legacy of William Shakespeare.
Established in 1847, it was formed to purchase and protect Shakespeare’s birthplace as a national memorial.
The Trust manages five historic properties associated with Shakespeare, including Anne Hathaway‘s Cottage and Hall’s Croft, and operates the Shakespeare Centre, which houses extensive archives and educational facilities.
SBT receives no government funding and relies on public support to promote the appreciation and study of Shakespeare‘s works globally.
