Sexual Attraction. A person’s desire to have sexual contact with another person or to form a sexual relationship. It can be influenced by a variety of factors, including:
- Biological: Pheromones
- Psychological: Shared values and beliefs
- Social: How someone smells, age, or alcohol
Sexual attraction can be different from other types of attraction, such as:
- Romantic attraction: The desire to have romantic contact or interaction with another person
- Aesthetic attraction: The appreciation of another person’s appearance or beauty
- Sensual attraction: The desire to interact with others in a tactile, non-sexual way
Sexual attraction can also be different from sexual arousal, which refers to the physical and emotional changes a person feels when becoming sexually aroused.
