    A.M. Rosenthal (1922-2006, age 84 ). An American journalist, often called “Abe,” who served as The New York Times executive editor from 1977 to 1986. Previously he was the newspaper’s metropolitan editor and managing editor. Following his tenure as executive editor, he became a columnist. Later, he had a column for the New York Daily News.

    Rosenthal was born in Canada and died in New York City. He is buried in the Stephen Wise Free Synagogue Cemetery of Westchester County, New York.
