Rohingya People. A stateless Indo-Aryan ethnic group who predominantly follow Islam (predominantly Sunni). Many reside in Rakhine State, Myanmar. Before the Rohingya genocide in 2017, when over 740,000 fled to Bangladesh, an estimated 1.4 million Rohingya lived in Myanmar. They speak Burmese and Rohingya.
Today they are scattered to Bangladesh (1,300,000), Malaysia (150,000), Myanmar (600,000), Pakistan (500,000) and Saudi Arabia (190,000).
