Philosophy. The study of fundamental questions about the world and ourselves, such as existence, knowledge, reason, value, mind, and language. It’s a rational and critical inquiry that involves asking, answering, and arguing for answers to life’s most basic questions.

Philosophy emphasizes clarity and precise, careful, rigorous arguments. It can examine concepts and views from many realms, including science, art, religion, and politics. For example, philosophy might consider the meaning of democracy, what justifies it as a system of government, and how it relates to political liberty.
