October 7 Attack on Israel

October 7, 2023. Attack on Israeli civilians by Hamas militants from Palestine. 1,160 were killed. This was an unprecedented cross-border attack on Israel that included the taking of civilian hostages at a music festival.

Hamas and other Palestinian militant groups launched a large-scale, coordinated attack on southern Israel from the Gaza Strip. This assault, named “Operation Al-Aqsa Flood” by Hamas, coincided with the Jewish holiday Simchat Torah.

The militants targeted civilian communities, a music festival, and military bases. The attack marked the deadliest day for Jews since the Holocaust and led to significant international condemnation and calls for the release of hostages.
