North-South Divide (USA)

North-South Divide. In the United States, a cultural, economic and political division remaining from the American Civil War (“The War Between The States” or the “U.S. Civil War”). This war was waged between the Union and the Confederacy, which was formed in 1861 by states that had seceded from the Union.

The Red State – Blue State divide of modern day America correlates to this split.
