North-East Frontier Agency (NEFA). A political division in British India and later the Republic of India from 1954 to 1972. It comprised the show-day state of Arunachal Pradesh and some parts of Assam. NEFA was administered by the Ministry of External Affairs until 1965 and then by the Ministry of Home Affairs. In 1972, it became the Union Territory of Arunachal Pradesh.
