Mandarin Chinese (language). A group of dialects spoken in northern and southwestern China, and is the most widely spoken form of Chinese. It’s the native language of two-thirds of China’s population and is spoken in all of China north of the Yangtze River. Mandarin is also the official language of mainland China and Taiwan, and is a major language in Singapore and the United Nations.
