    Alexander Grigoryevich Lukashenko (b.1954). The President of Belarus since 1994, making him Europe‘s longest-serving leader. His rule is characterized by authoritarian practices and maintaining close ties with Russia.

    Lukashenko‘s 2020 re-election was widely considered fraudulent, leading to mass protests and international sanctions. In February 2024, he announced his intention to run for an eighth consecutive term in the 2025 presidential elections.
