Whereas the J. Luce Foundation supports organizations and individuals
uplifting Humanity in the fields of Arts, Education, and Orphan Care, and;
Whereas the Foundation’s project “Le Sommet de la Femme” will empower young women
through Technology, Entrepreneurship, and Media; and
Whereas the Clare Boothe Luce Award for International Service is named in honor of
a true Renaissance woman who served both in the U.S. House of Representatives and as the
first female American Ambassador, as well as having been a versatile author and editor; and
Whereas Khaliya is a humanitarian, public health specialist and mental health strategist who
has been awarded the Middelthon-Candler Peace Prize alongside First Lady Rosalynn Carter; and
Whereas Khaliya is a member of The World Economic Forum’s Expert Advisory
Global Futures Council on the Future of Health and Healthcare and the
Clinton Global Initiative LEAD Program for Young Change Makers; and
Whereas Khaliya graduated with honors of Columbia University’s Mailman School
of Public Health, and served as a U.S. Peace Corps volunteer in Bulgaria; and
Whereas Khaliya has spoken on health issues at The White House’s United States of Women Summit;
the Clinton Global Initiative University, and at the United Nations General Assembly; and
Whereas Khaliya embodies the characteristics of honor, intelligence, benevolence, and integrity;
Be it known to all gathered here and connected around the world that the James J.D. Luce Foundation
hereby confers all Honors & Salutations to Khaliya as the Clare Booth Luce International Service
2017 Awardee at the 17th Annual Leadership Reception held at The National Arts Club on
Gramercy Park in New York City this Thursday, April 13, Two Thousand and Seventeen.
