Gwendolyn Ifill (1955-2016, age 61). An American journalist, television newscaster, and author. In 1999, she became the first African American woman to host a nationally televised U.S. public affairs program with Washington Week in Review.
She also worked with The New York Times and PBS NewsHour.
Ifill was born in New York City and died in Washington, D.C.
