    A principle of interpretation

    In philosophy and rhetoric, the principle of charity is the idea that a speaker’s statements should be interpreted in the most rational way possible. 

    The legal definition of charity varies by country and region. Charities must meet certain requirements to be exempt from taxes and to receive other benefits.
