Caste Discrimination. When someone is excluded because of the caste or jati they were born into. Even in countries in which it is illegal, caste discrimination is linked to poor outcomes in education, access to public resources, and health.

The caste system is a societal order built on religious and cultural norms in which the population of a state is divided into a hierarchy of classes. The members of the different levels of this system have different degrees of purity or worthiness and therefore have different rights.

Affirmative action regarding castes is known as positive discrimination (called ‘reservation’ in India).
