Jeremiah Bornfield (b. 19xx). An award-winning composer, producer, and multi-instrumentalist whose work spans film, theater, immersive audio, and experimental chamber music. Known for his innovative approach to sound and storytelling, Bornfield blends classical craftsmanship with modern techniques, making him a sought-after voice in contemporary composition.

Born in the Sonoran Desert of Arizona, Bornfield began studying music at age four under his father’s guidance. By age 11, he was touring nationally as a singer with the Tucson Arizona Boys Chorus. He later studied strings with the Tucson Symphony‘s principal violinist before pursuing formal composition studies. He earned his master’s degree in composition from Hunter College in 2009, where he studied under esteemed composers such as Noah Creshevsky and George Crumb.

Bornfield’s compositions have been performed at prestigious venues such as Carnegie Hall, Lincoln Center, and Taipei National Theater. His work has aired on PBS and HBO and has been featured in acclaimed films like Diane (introduced by Martin Scorsese) and Hitchcock/Truffaut, which was nominated for the Cannes Film Festival’s Golden Eye Award. Rolling Stone critic Peter Travers described him as “gifted,” and he received a gold medal in film scoring from the International Independent Film Awards.

In addition to film scoring, Bornfield has collaborated with renowned ensembles such as Sō Percussion, the Grammy-winning Attacca Quartet, and the Prague Philharmonic. He has also worked with Metropolitan Opera singers Trudy Craney and Nicholas Tamagna and librettist Royce Vavrek. His recent commissions include a viola concerto for Dr. Boris Vayner and the University of Kansas orchestra.

Beyond composing, Bornfield is the founder of Sound Economics, a program that explores the intersection of music theory, history, and economics at The Henry George School in New York City. He has also composed jingles for nearly 50 commercials, including Vogue Scandinavia‘s launch featuring Greta Thunberg.

Bornfield’s eclectic career extends to multimedia operas—two of which he directed—and experimental chamber music performed at iconic New York City venues such as Galapagos Art Space. His work continues to push boundaries in both classical and contemporary music landscapes.
