    American Airlines. One of the largest airlines in the world, headquartered in Fort Worth, Texas. It operates an extensive domestic and international network, serving hundreds of destinations across six continents. As a founding member of the Oneworld alliance, American Airlines plays a significant role in global air travel.

    History

    American Airlines traces its origins to 1926, when Charles Lindbergh flew the first American Airlines flight carrying mail. The company was officially formed in 1930 as a result of a merger of several smaller airlines. Over the decades, it has expanded through acquisitions, including the notable merger with US Airways in 2013, which solidified its position as one of the world’s largest carriers.
