A man of boundless energy, infectious humor, and striking style, Errol lived by his motto: “My reality is most people’s fantasy.” His legacy is one of connection, creativity, and compassion.
New York, N.Y. – Urban legend Errol Daniel Rappaport, a charismatic public relations maven, television producer, and beloved Goodwill Ambassador, passed away on June 13, 2025, at Mount Sinai Morningside in New York City. He was 81.

A Brooklyn-Born Star with a Heart for Service
Born on March 28, 1944, in Brooklyn, N.Y., Errol was the son of renowned fashion designers David and Frances Rappaport, whose brand Damon and Francesca graced major department stores nationwide. Raised in their iconic penthouse at 200 Central Park South, Errol grew up surrounded by art, culture, and sophistication—a foundation that shaped his glamorous persona.
After serving as a medic in the U.S. Air Force during the Vietnam War, Errol returned to civilian life with a passion for the arts. He became an assistant to legendary acting coach Lee Strasberg, immersing himself in New York’s creative scene before transitioning into public relations in Los Angeles and Acapulco.
Errol’s life was a testament to the power of positivity, connection,
and resilience—a legacy that will continue to inspire.
The Showman: Television, Music, and Black Tie Magazine

Errol’s career flourished as a television and music producer in New York City. He contributed regularly to Black Tie Magazine and Wonderama Television, bringing his signature flair to every project.
His partnership with Quinn Lemley led to the founding of QuinntEssential Productions, where they created the talk show Secrets of the Stage and produced the upcoming big band album Remembering Rita, set for release this fall.
With his slicked-back hair, bright orange Iris Apfel glasses, and an ever-changing collection of scarves, Errol was a fixture in Manhattan’s social circles.
His ability to connect people—whether at a Broadway premiere or a charity gala—earned him the nickname “The Goodwill Ambassador.”
A Devoted Friend to Charitable Causes
Beyond his professional achievements, Errol was a steadfast supporter of Orphans International Worldwide and the James Jay Dudley Luce Foundation, attending their black-tie galas and contributing to their silent auctions for over two decades.
He generously donated his father’s exquisite handmade neckties and curated art pieces, helping raise thousands for underprivileged youth and global humanitarian efforts. His presence at these events—always dapper, always smiling—embodied the spirit of giving.
A Champion for the Vulnerable: Fighting Unjust Guardianships
When his parents’ health declined, Errol returned from Los Angeles to care for them. After his father’s passing, he tirelessly advocated for his mother, Frances Rappaport, when she was placed under a controversial guardianship. His battle to protect her and others trapped in exploitative systems was documented in Diane Dimond’s book, We’re Here to Help: When Guardianship Goes Wrong.

A Legacy of Love and Laughter
Errol is survived by his brothers, Michael and Richard Rappaport, and his godson, Jorel Roth. His zest for life, unwavering positivity, and ability to make everyone feel special will be deeply missed.
A Celebration of Life will be announced at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the National Meningitis Association (now merged with Immunize.org).
