    Dionysus. Greek god of wine, festivity, and pleasure. He is also associated with orchards, fruit, vegetation, fertility, insanity, ritual madness, religious ecstasy, and theater. The Romans called Dionysus Bacchus, a name that comes from the frenzy he is said to cause, called baccheia.
