As a child, my grandmother Agnes Foote Luce took me to the U.S. Naval Academy in Annapolis, Maryland to see Luce Hall, named after an ancestor named Rear Admiral Stephen Bleecker Luce, a graduate of the Academy (date) and founder of the U.S. Naval War College in Newport, Rhode Island (date).
